Cornish Mussels operate a rope grown mussel farm
in King Harry Passage, Feock, Nr Falmouth and has a depuration plant in Falmouth
Production last year was 200 tonnes and we have facilities to expand production to 300 tonnes per year. We employ 4 people on the farm and 1 person on marketing.
The farm was set up in 2001, with some Objective 1 funding, and is now well equipped with 10 Spanish style mussel rafts, workboats, a 100 foot harvesting barge, cranes and other plant.
We developed our own design for a very compact depuration plant and we now have capacity for depurating 3 tonnes at a pass (6 to 9 tonnes per week) in our Falmouth plant.
In 2004, we packaged and marketed mussels in bulk to a Shellfish Marketing Group (sending 4 tonnes in a load) and to other Cornish shellfish wholesalers.
In 2005 we started a van sales operation under the 'Madame Moule' brand name, selling mussels to wholesalers and some restaurants in the south of England. Deliveries are made daily to Newlyn and via lorries for transport through out the south of England. We are currently supplying about 1 tonne a week to wholesalers and restaurants.
If you would like to discuss buying mussels from us please see the Madame Moule web site.
